Description:
There is an issue where vertices cannot be selected with a left click when using a brush mode in the Weights tool, such as Add, Remove, or Replace, if the target attachment is hidden by the viewport display options.
For example, turn off Images in the viewport display options, select a mesh attachment in the tree, enable a brush mode in the Weights tool, and then try to select a vertex with a left click. The vertex cannot be selected. It can still be selected by holding Ctrl while clicking, and switching to Direct mode also allows it to be selected with a left click. This issue affects only clicking vertices. The brush itself works normally.
However, this issue may be particularly inconvenient when working with attachments such as clipping attachments. A common workflow is to turn off Others, select a clipping attachment in the tree so that it remains visible, and then edit its weights. When using a brush mode, users may first want to select specific vertices so that the brush affects only those vertices and does not accidentally influence other vertices. Being unable to do this can make the workflow unnecessarily difficult.
Expected behavior:
Vertices can be selected normally with a left click when Images is turned off in the viewport display options, a mesh attachment is selected in the tree, and a brush mode is enabled in the Weights tool.
The same should apply when Others is turned off and a clipping attachment is selected in the tree.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open spineboy-pro.spine in Spine 4.3.23.
- Select the
head mesh.
- Turn off
Images in the viewport display options:
- Activate the Weights tool.
- In the Weights view, switch the mode to
Add, Remove, or Replace.
- Try to select a vertex using only a left click. You will see that it cannot be selected:
