Hi, I'm Marcos 👋

I enjoy understanding complex systems, and building them.

Most of my professional work has been in AI and machine learning, spanning research, startups, and production engineering. I've worked on information retrieval, document understanding, question answering, and distributed AI systems, and previously co-founded an AI startup where I served as CTO, helping turn research into products used by real customers.

But AI is only one expression of a broader curiosity.

I like taking things apart, understanding how they work, and putting them back together—whether that's a distributed compute cluster, a neural network, an electrical system for an RV, or the mathematics behind post-quantum cryptography.

What I enjoy working on

  • 🤖 AI systems & LLM infrastructure
  • 🔎 Information retrieval & search
  • 🧠 Machine learning & representation learning
  • ⚙️ Distributed systems
  • 🐍 Python and backend engineering
  • 🎮 Reinforcement learning
  • 🔐 Quantum computing & cryptography
  • 🐧 Linux, networking & self-hosting
  • 🔌 Embedded systems & electronics

What you'll find here

This GitHub is a collection of projects, experiments, and ideas that caught my curiosity.

Some started as research. Some solved problems I encountered at work. Some exist simply because I wanted to learn something new.

Some repositories are polished. Others are half-finished experiments. Both taught me something.

I care less about chasing the latest technology than about understanding the ideas behind it.

Beyond the keyboard

Remote work has allowed me to spend the last decade living close to the mountains—a trade I wouldn't make for anything.

When I'm not in front of a terminal, you'll probably find me hiking, climbing, cycling, canyoning, or building another engineering project that somehow became much more ambitious than originally planned.

Most things I build start with a simple question:

"I wonder how this works..."
