Executive Summary

Summarize the problem, proposed solution, expected outcomes, and key benefits (150–200 words).

1. The Problem

  • Problem Statement: What specific problem or need does this project address?
  • Impact & Target Audience: Who is affected by this problem, and why does it matter?
  • Supporting Evidence: What data, observations, or user pain points support this need?

2. Proposed Solution

  • Core Concept: What is the high-level solution?
  • Key Features & Functionality: What are the primary capabilities of the product?
  • Tech Stack & Tools: What required platforms, frameworks, or hardware will be used?
  • Value Proposition: How does this solution address the problem more effectively than existing alternatives?

3. Users and Stakeholders

  • Primary Users: Who will directly interact with the system?
  • Key Stakeholders: Who else is impacted or interested (e.g., instructors, clients, sponsors)?
  • User Needs & Pain Points: What specific requirements must be satisfied for each user group?

4. Project Scope & Assumptions

  • In-Scope: What features and deliverables are explicitly included?
  • Out-of-Scope: What related features will not be built during this timeframe?
  • Key Assumptions: What are you assuming regarding data access, API availability, or external resources?

5. Goals & SMART Objectives

  • Primary Goal: What is the overarching ambition of the project?
  • SMART Objectives: (List 2–3 Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound targets)
  • Success Criteria: How will you quantitatively verify that these objectives are met?

6. Deliverables & Milestones

  • Key Deliverables: What physical or digital assets will be produced (e.g., source code, dashboards, user documentation)?
  • Timeline & Milestones: What are the target completion dates for major phases?
  • Demonstrations: How and when will progress be shown to stakeholders?

7. Risks & Mitigation

  • Technical/Resource Risks: What could delay the project or break functionality?
  • Mitigation Plan: How will the team prevent or recover from these potential issues?
